Lakeland Trails was founded in September 2004 bringing the alpine model of a running festival to the Lake District National Park. Starting with just 80 runners at our first event, we now welcome over 10,000 runners per year over our 9 events.
Lakeland Trails has been locally owned by Phil Blaylock since 2019. Phil took part in his first Lakeland Trail in 2013 and has only missed one event since then. He worked his way up the ranks, racing and volunteering at first, before coming Marshal Manager then Safety Manager before taking on the Event Director role in 2017.
We're only a small team, committed to ensuring our events are as safe, accessible, enjoyable and memorable as possible. We pride ourselves on staging festival-style outdoor events that are not only great fun, but are designed to ensure runners and walkers of all abilities are catered for. We also have a passion for the environment and we work hard to ensure the environmental impact of our events are minimised.
We are fortunate to be able to use some of the most beautiful, scenic trails in the UK and working alongside organisations such as the National Trust and Lake District National Park Authority to ensure we leave nothing other than footprints and allowing you to take only great memories (and a t-shirt and photo!).
The courses are all planned over environmentally sustainable trails and bridleways and we use local suppliers and products wherever possible. We actively recycle and all of our signs are re-used at all the events. We also try to be as paper free as possible, with online entry and information through our website, Facebook page and e-newsletters.
