Stunning trail running on the eastern shores of Ullswater

"Will the boats sail?" is a running joke with the Lakeland Trailers as the weather can prevent them from sailing - we even had too much water one year! We've been lucky in the last 3 years and you can't beat the stunning complimentary cruise along Ullswater to the start of the run, enjoying a classic performance from singer/songwriter Pete Lashley on the way.

We have two, recently improved, stunning contingency routes (which people enjoyed in 2017 and 2018) so you can still enjoy the stunning trails along Ullswater's eastern shore and up to the viewpoint of Silver Crag just in case we can't get on the boats. At Side Farm, the 14k course will give you a challenge as you climb up to Boredale Hause, before an exhilerating descent back down to the Patterdale Valley with breathtaking views.

We'll also have live music from Boom Dang and Pete Lashley, race commentary, food and drink all available at the start and finish. So, whether you're new to trail running, an experienced athlete, or simply looking for an unforgettable day out in the Lake District, a family-friendly, atmosphere and some amazing trail running awaits you!

Ullswater Trail Run 10k - Additional Sailing - Please read notes below

09:45 Sailing

Please read the information below

Important Information: This is an additional contest because of high demand for the 10k and there will be a maximum of 50 people on the start line. Your complimentary cruise will be on the scheduled Ullswater Steamers service so Pete Lashley will not be playing on the boat (you will still have a chance to hear him at prize giving). Your race number is your ticket. There will be no prizes for competitors sailing on this boat. The time limit is 2 1/2 hours and you must be at least 16 years old.

Further Information

Ullswater - Race Day

All of the pre-race information is now shown below rather than in an Event Guide to make it more accessible. Please take time to read this information.

If the boats are unable to sail, we have two beautiful alternative courses for you which take you to the far side of Ullswater. The 14k alternate route includes a challenging climb up to Boredale Hause (which doesn't feature if the boats sail).

The event requires over 50 marshals and stewards, so if you want to volunteer to help us in any way we would love to hear from you. Check out our volunteers' page for more details.

Can you fill your car with someone from your local club or car share? We've set up a Facebook group to help arrange that. Join that HERE to save money and emissions.

Send us a photo / screenshot of your public transport ticket to the event, or a photo of your bike in the event ground HERE and we'll randomly choose someone for a FREE entry.

We won't be holding a Safety Briefing as all of the ESSENTIAL information is covered below.
